Designed in 1954 by Pierre Guariche for Steiner, the Papyrus chair is one of the 5 chairs that changed the destiny of Steiner at the beginning of the 1950s. Its thin seat with its unique curve suggests the technical possibilities of thermoformed plywood. A silhouette, a round and sensual shell, resting on a metal base. The Papyrus chair by Pierre Guariche is the first French wooden chair designed in a single piece. The backrest, while robust, is relatively flexible and thin. Please note that the armrests remain in solid beech, even on the upholstered version. All chairs and carver chairs are equipped with wrap-around tips under the feet. WOODEN VERSION – NON-UPHOLSTERED : Shell in moulded plywood and stained beech veneer. Black lacquered steel base, stained solid beech armrests. Beech armrests for carver chair in both versions. UPHOLSTERED VERSION : The shell is cladded with high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam (48kg/m3 – 7.1 kPa). 5mm baguette stitching on the outer of the chair. Fully removable cover.
